My Mailbox Runneth Over...

...the other day at least. With four envelopes and packages holding baseball cards! I had gone a long time without getting any cards in the mail due to not trading too much, to getting four packages in one day.

Some time ago I got some cards together and sent some random packages to other bloggers and readers I have traded with in the past, not expecting anything back in return.  With the kindness and generosity of the collecting community I wasn't expecting to get anything back but then again I wasn't surprised that I did.

First up, Greg from Night Owl Cards--the premier blog of the collecting community Through coming across and reading his blog, it is one of the reasons I started this blog in the first place!
Stephen Strasburg cards still have a certain wow factor appeal to me. The Strasburg hype was part of the reason I got back into collecting, so every time I get a card of him I think I am reminded of that.  Every time I get an insert card of him (such as the one above) I'm even more in awe, thinking back to the time when his cards were going for hundreds and even thousands of dollars.
Hunter Pence remains a player in my player collections, but for how long I do not know.  I like him as a player but now that he isn't a Phillies player his appeal to me might not be as strong.  Regardless, I have hundreds of Pence cards and I will surely continue collecting his newer cards and inserts and parallels of him, no matter where he winds up.
Here are three awesome cards, each one cooler than the next! Zimmerman purple border chrome, die cut Strasburg, and black border Hamels.  Three great players and three cards I needed for my collection!
Memories...of World Series days for the Phillies.  So sad that Carlos Ruiz is out for the first 25 games of the season. The Phillies need his leadership and his bat badly, but hopefully Erik Kratz can be a viable replacement for a month or so.
Finally, Cliff Lee chrome! Lee needs a comeback season in order to live up to his monster contract. Last season he underachieved a bit, but the run support wasn't there either.  Look for him to come out strong from the get go.

Thanks Night Owl! As always you sent some great stuff.  I look forward to our next trade!
